On July 24, 2019, at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in the State of Israel, in the city of Bat Yam, Odessa Roerich House Museum will open an exhibition "LOVE AND HELLO TO UKRAINE" of posters of Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947) dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the outstanding artist, scientist, traveler, thinker, lawyer, author of the universal Roerich Pact (Treaty) on the Protection of Cultural and Scientific Values in time of war and peace. More than 40 posters at the exhibition represent the life and career of the unsurpassed Master of the Himalayas, as the artist was called in India, where he lived from 1923 to 1947. From early childhood, meetings of the Taras Shevchenko Society were held in the house of Nicholas Roerich, since the father of the future artist was a lawyer and one of the founders of the Society, the author of its Charter. Ukrainian speech was often heard in the house, performances based on the works of Nikolai Gogol were staged, essays and paintings about Ukraine were written. The younger brother of Nicholas - Boris Roerich, an architect, and artist lived and worked in Kiev as the Chief Curator of the Museum of Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko in the 1920s. His works, as well as works of his elder brother, Nicholas Roerich, are in the collection of the National Museum "Kiev Art gallery". There are 28 works of Nicholas Roerich, in the museums of Ukraine: in Kiev, Odessa, Gorlovka, Nikolaev, Lviv, Dnipro, and others. There are also two churches with Nicholas Roerich's majestic mosaics: the church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, architect Vladimir Pokrovsky, in the village of Parkhomovka, Kiev region, and the Trinity Church of the Pochaev Lavra, architect Alexei Schusev. The curator of the exhibition is Elena Petrenko, director of the Odessa Roerich House Museum. The film "Roerich and Ukraine" will be demonstrated.
The exhibition will be held at Ukrainian Cultural Center - 15A, Nitsana st., Bat Yam (Israel).
