The book features four articles by Ivan Karpenko, the veteran of the Great Patriotic War: «In the tragic forty-first», «The city stood as a stronghold», «No one panicked», «Thus began my youth.» The articles cover the events that took place in Odessa during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and based solely on archival materials. The book is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The publication is opened with an introductory article by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the State of Israel Mr. Hennadiy Nadolenko. The book is the 4th issue in the series «Heritage of Ukraine».
