The works of the Roerichs in Museums of the World. Issue 1

The first book in the new series «The Works of the Roerichs in Museums of the World» has been published. The book includes two articles: «The story of the acquisition of three sketches of N. K. Roerich» — by Alexander Afanasyev,Ph. D., a leading researcher at the State Historical Museum (Moscow, Russia) and «Works by N. K. Roerich in the collection of V. M. and  A. M. Vasnetsov Vyatka Art Museum» by Iraida Kuvaldina, Scientific Secretary of the Vyatka Art Museum (Kirov, Russia). Many museums of the world have in a permanent exhibition or collection works of Nicholas Roerich. Since 1997, the Odessa Roerich House Museum has been hosting International scientific and practical conferences dedicated to the birthday of Nicholas Roerich (1874–1947). Art historians from museums of the non-CIS countries and CIS states attend the conferences. They often report the story of the acquisition and formation of a collection of paintings by Nicholas Roerich. The idea of publishing of selected reports in a series: «Works of Nicholas Roerich in museums of the world» arose when a significant number of the reports was accumulated.

Annex: Postcards with N. K. Roerich’s paintings: «Overseas Guests» (1902) and «Rhine Etude. Landskrone», (1911) from the collection of the V. M. and A. M. Vasnetsov Vyatka Art Museum as well as «Overseas Guests,» (1900) and «Dance (Round dance),» (1903) from the collection of the Bashkir State Art Museum named after M. V. Nesterov.
