Exhibition of graphics by Gennady Garmider "UKRAINE - ISRAEL. ODESSA - BAT-YAM”
at the Ukrainian Cultural Center of the Embassy of Ukraine to the State of Israel
June 26, 2019, in the Ukrainian Cultural Center in the State of Israel, in the city of Bat Yam, Odessa Roerich House Museum will open an exhibition of Gennady Garmider, a famous Odessa graphic artist, painter, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. The exhibition is dedicated to the Constitution Day of Ukraine. The exhibition is a joint project of the Odessa Roerich House Museum and the Embassy of Ukraine to the State of Israel. The curators of the exhibition are the director of the Odessa Roerich House Museum Elena Petrenko and the 2nd secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine to the State of Israel — Natalia Marikutsa
The exhibition features 40 etchings by Gennady Garmider. The exhibition takes place in the anniversary year of the artist — on the eve of his 75th birthday. Gennady Garmider — a famous Odessa artist — graphic artist, painter, book illustrator. Born in 1945. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. He has a long way in art — studying at the famous Odessa Grekov Art College and the Kyiv National Academy of Arts. Gennady Garmider participated in many national and international exhibitions. His personal exhibitions were exhibited in museums of Ukraine, Italy, Finland, and USA. His works adorn museums in Ukraine, Russia, Finland, France, Bulgaria, Hungary. Many of his works belong to presidents, diplomats, collectors of France, Italy, USA, Canada, Greece, Australia, Germany, Spain, Finland, Japan. Many of his works are dedicated to Odessa, its unique flavor of the sunny seaside city were taken with them by the memory of those who had left for Israel. He is the real singer of Odessa, to whom more than 150 his works are dedicated — a kind of the chronicle from the foundation to the present day. His engravings are made in the technique of etching, filled with the light of the sun, astringent scents of the sea, the joy of life. A light transparent touch creates a festive, major mood. The exhibition presents works from the graphic series «Odessa at the end of the XIX — the beginning of the XX century», «Cities of the world», a series of landscapes «Sednev» — a picturesque town in Chernihiv region, where the magical originality of the Ukrainian village is preserved. His artworks are distinguished by the high skill, filigree technique, exquisite taste, subtle Odessa humor.
